New to Running?

Whether you've never run before or are returning to running after a break, Haslemere Border AC welcomes runners of all abilities. Our experienced coaches and friendly club members are here to support you every step of the way.

We run regular "Get Up and Run" programs designed specifically for beginners, following proven Couch to 5K (C25K) principles to get you running safely and enjoyably.

What to Expect

At Your First Session

  • Arrive 10-15 minutes early
  • Introduce yourself to a coach
  • Brief warm-up with the group
  • Join a group that matches your fitness level
  • Mix of running and walking for beginners
  • Cool-down and stretching

What to Bring

  • Comfortable running shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing
  • Water bottle
  • Positive attitude!

Get Up and Run (GUAR) Program

Our "Get Up and Run" program is designed to take you from complete beginner to running continuously for 30-35 minutes over 10 weeks. Led by experienced coaches including Sarah Barnett, Annalisa Alexander, and Dave Bateman, the program follows evidence-based training principles with a supportive group environment.

Course Details

  • Cost: £50 per course
  • Duration: Approximately 10 weeks
  • Sessions: Twice weekly (Tuesdays 7pm, Saturdays 9am)
  • Session Length: Approximately 45 minutes
  • Location: Devil's Punchbowl, Hindhead
